last days of summer

polaroids10111898.jpg

it is about the moment, not the circumstances. it's about the people, not the scenery. it's about truth, and not about perfection. instants of gleeful nonsense, innocuous reflections of the soul, unabashed postures and peculiar faces wrapped in 3.5 X 4.2 in. sheet films. it embodies the essence of now without tainting it. the confluence of emotions, whether you're waddling and quaking like a duck or reluctantly trying to look natural, is framed and extended indefinitely. the evidence of our ever substantial need to treasure what we had.

I love polaroids. because this is exactly how I want my life to be like.

I love polaroids to for the same reason, the fleetingness of moments captured..and the photos you shared are wonderful.Isn't it amazing how life is like that one moment, bookended by a completely different moment the next? What you write always manages to captures that.

I, too, love Polaroids. And when we packed up in the islands, I pulled my Polaroid out of the cupboard and discovered it had gone all wonky. I was sad to let it go. Time to get another one. Love your photos.

Polariods, catch the un-catchable moment and don't allow it change. Etching it in a funky rim of white, not allowing computers or anyother method of alteration to change that capature.

God, I always feel my breath catch when I read your entries because they're so so real and filled with bittersweetness. Uh. You rock!

And so do your Polaroids. I have a Polaroid and I'd like to pin my pictures up in a poetically beautiful "scrapbook" like yours, but mine are all blurry, yellowish messes of pictures that I'm embarrassed to share with anyone.

How Momster of you to take perfect Polaroids. You're like the senior prom queen I watched at 14 with an ache in my awkward soul.

I am an avid scrapbooker and so I can completely relate to your words today. I don't have a polaroid, but I use my digital camera with almost as much spontaneity as one. I live for photos of my family and friends and love writing about the good and bad times over the years.

You will look back on today as a good time and not a bad one. As hard as it was to let them go, just do it and watch them as they fly. Nothing is more beautiful and yet heart-breaking in a loving mom,s eyes as watching your children become independent little people in this world.

What unbelievable pictures -- so pure! I haven't taken my polaroid out in about 5 years, but you've inspired me.

Wow
I spent like a half an hour or so this past weekend reading away. Through your past oh 20 or so posts and I have to say you write beautifully well I guess I should say you think beautifully and Sean & Will are adorable! I'm glad I've stumbled upon your blog and I'm enjoying all of your photos. I loved the one that had all of your groceries in the cart. Euro food is just so much cooler :) I also love the shot of the three of you jumping on the bed, so sweet.
